Planning wedding music can feel overwhelming when it’s competing with timelines, vendor meetings, outfits, and a dozen other decisions. But here’s the good news: our wedding DJ planning app makes the music one of the easiest things to check off.
Every couple who books with us at Custom Fit DJ gets access to our easy-to-use planning app. It’s designed to help you map out your music and moments. That way, you and your DJ are totally in sync when the big day comes.
Even if you’re the “I’ll figure it out later” type, this app meets you where you’re at.
What the Wedding Music Planning App Helps You Organize
In other words, the planning app is your personal hub for music and event flow.
For example, here’s what you can do inside it:
- Browse curated playlists to get inspired
- Import playlists from Spotify or Apple Music
- Add notes for your DJ about timing or preferences
- Specific music moment updates
It’s how we help you line up music, moments, and everything in between — without the stress.
In addition to telling us what you do want, telling us what you don’t want can be a really helpful way to communicate specifics…
How Most Couples Use the Music App
Some couples come in with a full playlist and specific requests. Others just pick a few favorites and let the DJ fill in the gaps. Either way, our wedding DJ planning app helps you:
- Drop in songs you already love
- Explore sample playlists we’ve built to help you get started
- Leave notes or questions for your DJ to review before your planning call
You don’t have to finish the whole thing in one sitting — most couples add to it slowly as inspiration strikes.

When the music’s planned out ahead of time, moments like this feel natural and fun.
When to Start Planning Your Wedding Music
Here’s what the timeline typically looks like once you book:
- You’ll get access to the planning app right away
- Aim to have most of it filled out 30–45 days before your wedding
- We’ll check in and schedule your planning call with your DJ around that time
- Your DJ will review your responses and use them to build a clear music timeline for your day
Changing something major after the planning call? Totally fine — just shoot us a heads up. We’re pros, we can roll with it.
Real Examples of What the App Will Ask You
Our wedding DJ planning app helps you think through the moments that matter most — with real prompts like:
- What song will play as your wedding party enters the ceremony?
- What’s your first dance song (or do you need suggestions)?
- Do you want music during dinner or cake cutting?
- Are there songs we absolutely shouldn’t play?
- What genres or styles should we lean into on the dance floor?
There are also sections for grand entrances, parent dances, toasts, private last dances, and a “super important” section at the bottom for anything we need to know.
You can answer what’s relevant and skip what’s not. This tool is meant to guide, not overwhelm.
Can Guests Help With the Music?
Yes — you can invite friends or family members to contribute to your open dancing playlist.
Here’s how it works:
- Guests can add songs to one section only (they won’t see or edit your timeline)
- They can “like” other suggestions so we know what will get your crew excited
- This is great if your planner, parent, or best friend wants to help with the party vibe
DJ Tip
Don’t overthink it. Use the app to share the stuff you care about — and let us take care of the rest. Your DJ’s job is to read the room, keep the energy right, and make sure the flow feels natural.
Common Music Planning Questions
What if I don’t pick a lot of songs?
Totally fine. You can just choose general genres or leave a few notes — we’ll take it from there.
Can I make changes after I submit the app?
Yes, but let us know directly if it’s a big change to the timeline.
What if I don’t know what a section means?
Skip it. We’ll go over everything during your planning call.
What if I already have playlists on Spotify?
Great! You can import them straight into the app and organize them by wedding moment.
